About the client
Ferdia creates an ecosystem for private bus companies. Their product portfolio consists of various applications for booking and managing buses.
In the Sharebus project Anna independently led the design process for a service app for bus sharing, Sharebus. Anna’s main responsibility was to design the Sharebus user experience.
Her consisted of mapping user needs and the user journeys of planners and bus travellers, drawing prototypes and verifying them with the users through testing. Through Sharebus, planners can easily set up buses, and travellers can buy tickets, but the bus will only be confirmed when it has enough passengers. Anna worked closely with the Norwegian Handball Association, the pilot customer for Sharebus, and her main user tests were with users associated to the organization. In the job, Anna used Figma as the main design tool to create prototypes. She focused on adapting the existing style guide to the WCAG criteria. After the insight phase, she worked closely with others on the product team to continuously improve the user experience of the product.
As part of her work, Anna made an ideal user journey for planners and bus travellers. This user journey was improved over many iterations.
The planner experience
The planner user experience was designed and tested over several iterations. Below are some screenshots showing the flow for setting up bus tours with stops along the way.
The Joiner experience
Anna analyzed the needs and attitudes of potential travelers by interviewing and testing prototypes. Here I also used test users from the Norwegian Handball Association. Many users expressed uncertainty about joining such a bus, and it was a big challenge to show in the design how the concept of bus sharing worked and what the conditions applied. We achieved this by showing summarized information and sending passenger updates. Today, planners have the option to pre-confirm the bus, even if there are not enough passengers.
